After School Programming
Spring Semester 2017
Club Kef is an after school program offering semester long classes or same day sign-ups for students one years old through 8th grade.
Club Kef runs everyday there is a full day of school, from
January 3, 2017 to May 25, 2017

The Daily Schedule:*

Mondays - Thursdays

  • 3:30-3:45 - Snack Time
    A nutritious and filling snack is provided each day, as carrots and hummus, a variety of fruits to select from, cheese sticks, veggie straws and much more.
  • 3:45-4:45 - Class Time**
    Select a semester long class or sign-up for Club Kef Hang-Out, where students will enjoy different activities each day, as basketball, imagination playground, computer lab, art projects and more.
  • 4:45-5:30 - Homework & Pick-Up Time
    During this time students will have the opportunity to complete their homework. If they do not have homework they will have lots of things to choose from, as art supplies, cards, board games or going to play on the playground or in the gym. Parents can pick-up their children from the cafeteria anytime between 4:45-5:30.

Fantastic Fridays

2:30 - 4:00

Each Friday will be a special edition of Club Kef. Students will have a special snack and then a unique program, often with special guests, as Fitness Challenge Friday with Coach Mike, Movie Day with Popcorn, Cooking Classes, Art Explorations and more. A monthly calendar will be posted of each Friday's special edition.

*2’s & 3’s will follow a slightly different schedule.

  • One Year OldsOpen or Close

    One Year Olds

    The fun doesn't have to end at 3:30!
    Students below two years old are invited to stay in their classroom until 5:30 pm with Morah Inna. The fun activities are carried on, as dance parties, story time, buggy rides, playground time and snack.
  • Two's and Three'sOpen or Close

    3:30 - All two's & three's will be brought to Morah Elisheva's room.

    3:30-3:45 - Snack Time A nutritious snack is provided to each student.

    3:45- 5:30 - Class Time*
    Morah Elana will use her magic curriculum to inspire and excite growing minds (see chart below).
    We know parent's schedules vary so children can be picked up any time from 3:45 -5:30. Parents must park and go to Morah Elisheva's room to pick their children up.
    *PLAYBALL will be provided as part of the program every Monday from 3:45-4:45pm.

    Hip Hop with Expressions In Motion
    In this high energy hip hop dance class, students will learn the fundamentals of this increasingly popular dance form. Class emphasizes rhythm and style, personal expression, choreography, basic strengthening and conditioning and having fun!

    Smile's Drama & Stage
    The students will put on a theatrical production of The Wizard of Oz directed by Elana Horwitz. Children will explore voice, acting and social techniques while incorporating movement and studio arts.
    Save The Date: Tuesday, May 23 at 4:00 pm will be the big show!

    Jump Start Gymnastics 
    Gymnastics Class Mission – To educate the students on a fun and creative way to incorporate fitness into their lives through the training of the fundamental movements of gymnastics. 
    4 Big Ideas 
    • Fun - Smiles & excitement on the faces of all our students. 
    • Vocabulary – Important vocabulary terms will be taught & expected to be retained by students involving fitness & gymnastics. 
    • Gymnastics – The fundamental gymnastics movements and skills will be taught. 
    • Fitness – Core strengthening, flexibility, balance & cardio stamina will be achieved through creative exercise games & unique activities.

    Bricks 4 Kidz
    Bricks4Kidz LEGO Club is coming to AJA! The adventure begins where students will build models in our Mission 2 Space, Ticket to Ride, and other fun unit-themes. There are multiple levels so as children develop they have the opportunities to work on more complex skills. Kidz will work on problem solving skills, fine motor skills and process oriented thinking all while their imaginations soar.

    Mixed Media Art with Robyn Rousso
    Robyn Rousso is an award winning designer, published Illustrator, well known Atlanta artist and has been teaching art for over 25 years. Join Robyn for a mixed media adventure in exploring clay, canvas painting, pastels and water color. Children will learn how to paint, guided through the skills of the impressionists to whimsical modern artists. Different techniques will be implemented using polymer clay, collaging, watercolors and pastels.
    Save The Date: Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 4:00 pm will be an art show displaying the fabulous creations made throughout the semester.

    Club Kef Hangout
    Grades 5-8
    Club Kef Hangout is a supervised environment where students can throw the football around, shoot some hoops, work in the art room or simply catch up with some homework. It is open each day until 5:30 and snacks are provided.

    Thursdays

    Chess
    Grades 4-8
    Chess is run by Damir Studin. He was the 2009 and 2013 Georgia Chess Champion and a National Chess Master which ranks him in the top 99.7% of all chess players in the United States. The main focus for Chess is keeping the game fun for children while teaching them the fundamentals. They will learn lessons that are important in life, such as sportsmanship, problem solving, critical thinking, concentration, patience, attention span and other skills.

  • Toco Hills BusOpen or Close

    Toco Hills Bus

    AJA will offer daily bus service to the Briarvista Shopping Center at the corner of LaVista and Briarcliff.

    Monday to Thursday:
    The Bus will leave AJA at 5:15 & arrive at the Shopping Center around 5:45.

    Friday:
    The Bus will leave AJA at 3:45 & arrive at the Shopping Center around 4:15.
    The Friday times will be adjusted as Shabbos begins to come in earlier.

    COST:
    $10 per day.
    *There needs to be an average of 5 riders each day in order to meet the cost of running the bus. If we are unable to meet the minimum bus service may not be available.
